Up the Fury!

Ken Burton Cup Under 13 Winners 2021

A winners tale............

After what's been a tough 14 months, the boys finally reaped their rewards.

After the Government & FA announcements that grassroots football can return from march 29th, the Weetabix League announced that the cup & plate competition will take place to finish off the kids season.

AFCRD Fury managed to win all their group games and finished top of their group.

Corby Vikings 1 vs Fury 3

(Goals by Harley 2 Ashton 1)

Fury 7 vs Finedon Volta 0

(Goals by Mayson 3 Harley 1 Lucas 1 Hayden 1 Ashton 1)

***************************

We then got drawn away to S & L Corby in the quarter finals, a very good Division 1 team. Fury were leading 2-1 with 2 mins to go when S & L were awarded a penalty. They scored, which then put the game into extra time. So with 14 more minutes to play fury again took the lead to make it 3-2. They then defended brilliantly to see out the game & march into the cup semi finals.

Semi final away to Ise lodge Falcons.

Another tough away game Vs our Div 1 rivals.

The boys started on the front foot and raced into a 3-0 lead at half time. Falcons then came back into the game to make it 3-2. Fury then went 4-2 up after scoring a penalty but falcons then came back again to make it 4-3. Fury held on and booked themselves into this year's cup final!

Cup Final at Raunds Town. 23rd May 2021

AFCRD Fury 2 Vs Mawsley 1

(Goals Ashton 1 Alfie1)

A huge day for the boys and everyone involved with team fury under 13s. It was an early start for everyone with the game being a 9.30am KO.

We arrived just before 9am and the boys had a decent warm up. Then pictures were taken by the cup final photographer.

So the game kicked off with fury defending the slope first half on a very big pitch. The game was fairly even. Mawsley's biggest threat was their number 13, a big strong physical lad who caused us a few problems. It was Mawsley who took the lead just before half time with number 13 finishing well, so fury went in at half time 1 down.

So the message to the boys at half time was remain positive, stop the supply going into the number 13's feet and to continue giving your all and opportunities will come.

Mawsley kicked off 2nd half. It didn't take long for team fury t

o get hold of the game & start to cause Mawsley lots of problems. On at least two occasions Mawsley got away with two cynical fouls on the edge of their box with both Harley & Lucas clean through.

Fury then got a much deserved equaliser, Mayson was fouled out wide then got up and took the resulting free-kick & delivered a perfect cross which Ashton headed home. To see the boys celebrations was something very special. So 1-1 and game on!

Fury remained on top with Mawsley struggling to get out of their half. Fury had a big penalty shout turned away with Lucas being fouled in the box. Fury had a few good chances with Harley going close on two occasions & Mawsley's keeper making a couple of good saves.

Alfie's corners were causing Mawsley a few nervy moments. The instruction from the dugout was to put the next one on the keeper. Alfie did exactly that, he delivered the perfect ball which floated into the far corner of the net to put fury 2-1 which caused absolute scenes with him being congratulated by his team mates.

There were a couple of chances either end,

but fury stood strong as a team to see out the remainder of the game and finished 2021 season as under 13 cup winners.

So both our full backs grabbing the goals & a special mention to Ashton who's now scored in every cup game which is a great achievement even more so being a right back.

This is nothing more than these boys deserve, from day one of under 7 these kids of shown unbelievable consistency levels. Also having last season cup semi final taken away from them due to Covid-19 and potentially a league runners up Spot too.

They are a special group of lads, they are very committed, hardworking & have fantastic attitudes. They represent our football club brilliantly and I couldn't be prouder. To see their faces in front of all their families & Friends as they received their trophies was something very special and a day we will never all forget.
